I am continually impressed by how art can be seen in every aspect of Dominican life. We have visited so many charming little eating places, from sit-down restaurants to take-it-and-run food kiosks, and each one seems to reflect the creativity and pride of its owner. Wherever we go, we seem to stumble across another one!

Talk about a new take on a food truck!
This little business which I think might be a franchise sells empanadas which are turnovers. Dough is folded over a savory or sweet filling i.e. cheese, chicken, vegetables, fruits in the shape of a half-moon or crescent pocket and fried in oil…. hello cholesterol!!! Noteice how the empanadas are displayed? Truck can be transported to a site for sales ie school, party
The word empanada comes from the Spanish verb empanar, meaning to wrap or coat in bread.
Every culture has their version of the dough treat, Ukrainians have perogies.
The actor in the clip is our favourite waitress, sadly she is not working there anymore.

Returned to this area after many years away. Jose and I would stop there many years ago so that he could buy the liquid yogurt they have here. We passed by and thought we would check it out after a long absence and WOW! it has changed. It is now such a cute little place with some very creative recycling ideas that make it a truly Dominican lunch and evening spot.
the washroom is a collection of great re-cycle ideas…no, not me! 
how about that faucet? 
and the door latch! 
do not get me started on the lighting

add a little paint and create some art! 
and some outdoor lighting 
do you have some old fans kicking around? 
hmmmm, where did this table leg come from? any guesses?
