Adventures in Dominican Republic_Cofresi

nice surprise tonight

as a few friends

arrived for dinner!

Just kidding….

Surprise Entertainment at Karaoke Night

Later that night a group of 4 young people sat down, 3 young women and a young man. I thought they were a bit dramatic in their behaviour. When one young woman (Yoleiny) got up to sing, “Killing Me Softly” (the horrible new version) by Roberta Flack I could tell she was a professional singer…..watch for her….she is good. Listen to the YouTube clip if you do not believe me…..have to say that I know talent when I see it.

Then….the young man got up to sing (Chavi Leon) not as talented as her IMO but still a good entertainer. Listen to his YouTube clip His song is bachata.

At the end of the evening the young man had the DJ find his music video on YouTube….and hers. She did a remake of, “Nothing To Say”

now, if you liked that…here is her current release

which was originally sung by Sia in the movie, “Cinderella” (2021)

Noche Vaquera (Night of the Cowboy)

this group is so much fun! Jose and I have gotten to know all the staff at Ocean World in Cofresi. Here they are dong their, “Ocaen World” Staff line dance.

Jose’s Birthday at Ocean World

A special night for Jose at our regular place to have dinner every night because I do not like to cook!!!

The restaurant does the North American style birthday cake presentation with the sparkler and the staff singing, “Feliz Cumpleaños”. I had no plans to subject José to that so it was dinner as usual. On our way out the door I whispered to our favourite cashier that it was Jose’s birthday but do not tell anyone. Well, because we are in the DR the news spread like wildfire.

The next night we settled in at our regular table (the staff put a reserved sign on it, if we do not show up I get a text message asking where we are). We ate and because it was Karaoke night…oh ya…people were getting up to sing because again…we are in the DR.

All of a sudden the DJ started to talk….all I understood was the word, “gimnasio” which I am sure you have guessed means gym. Those of you that know my story know that Jose owned the first gym in Puerto Plata. As a result everywhere we go he has former members coming to talk with him. Then I hear his name and before I know it the staff appears with the sparkler birthday cake singing the Ocean World version of Feliz Cumpleaños.

Land of One Million Skies
