Upon my arrival back in the Dominican Republic, Jose and I returned to Puerto Plata. Using this as our base we spent our weekends driving back and forth along the north coast between Puerto Plata and Cabrera trying to decide where to settle.

Starting in Puerto Plata, we would travel east along the north coast. On the coastal side is Playa Dorada a well known tourist development that hosts a golf course and many hotels used by Canadian tour companies. These hotels can be booked independently or as part of all inclusive package tours.

From here we would drive on to Sosua. As is the case with all of Dominican Republic Sosua has a fascinating history. It remains the home of Jewish offspring who arrived in the Dominican Republic as early on as 1492 when Sephardic Jews were exiled from Spain. One will find their food products in local supermarkets under the brand name Productos Sosua.
Leaving Sosua and continuing east kite surfers appeared in the sky, this was a sign that Cabarete was up ahead. This small town is the home of professional kitesurfing competitions.
From Cabarete Jose and I travelled on through Gaspar Hernandez and Rio San Juan before entering the town of Cabrera. We decided that this town will be our new home. Cannot wait to move and start taking my own pictures to post!
